Overview
Abidar rises above Sanandaj and is one of the city’s most recognizable natural landmarks. The mountain is known for its forest park, viewpoints, and trails that frame the skyline of the provincial capital.
The slopes host Abidar Park and other leisure areas that have become part of Sanandaj’s modern identity, including a large open-air cinema built into the hillside.
Landscape and Culture
The mountain’s ridgelines and wooded slopes are popular for evening walks, picnics, and local celebrations. Abidar is often referenced in Kurdish songs and local storytelling as a symbol of Sanandaj.
