Qazi Muhammad was an Iranian Kurdish political leader and the first president of the Republic of Mahabad, a short-lived Kurdish state established in 1946 in northwestern Iran.
His leadership during the Mahabad Republic made him a lasting symbol of Kurdish political aspirations in Iran.
Life and Leadership
He helped found the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan (PDKI) and served as president of the Mahabad Republic until its collapse at the end of 1946.
Legacy
Qazi Muhammad was executed in 1947 after the republic’s fall, and his memory remains significant in Kurdish political history.
